Plenty of rain keeps things green throughout the cold winters and mild summers. The region produces a number of exciting varietals, with its chardonnay, riesling and cabernet sauvignon being among the most famous. The chardonnays are elegant with citrus and melon flavours and the potential to be aged for even finer flavours. The rieslings being produced in the region are crisp and fresh with citrus flavours that can be aged into honeyed, toasty flavours.
