TAMBURLAINE ORGANIC WINES
TAMBURLAINE ORGANIC WINES
Open the door to new experiences and tastings at Tamburlaine Organic Wines, a truly unique winery with cellar doors nestled in the stunning Hunter Valley and Orange regions. Known for its commitment to organic and vegan-friendly winemaking, Tamburlaine invites wine lovers and curious travellers alike to explore a wide array of sustainably crafted wines.
Established in 1966, the winery took a new turn in 1985 when it was acquired by a group led by Mark Davidson, who has since guided the vineyard through forty vintages. Under Davidson’s leadership, Tamburlaine embraced contemporary organic practices, creating a legacy of award-winning wines that reflect both innovation and environmental care.
Today, Tamburlaine stands proudly as one of Australia’s largest producers of organic wines, with the Hunter Valley estate covering eighteen hectares under vine and the Orange vineyard expanding to nearly 305 hectares. Producing a broad range of wine styles at different price points, the winery offers an impressive range of reds, whites, rosés, sparkling, dessert and fortified wines. Many of these are available with low or no added sulphur, and even alcohol-free options are on offer – ensuring something for every palate.
Tamburlaine has long been a pioneering force in Australian winemaking, setting itself apart with a commitment to crafting exceptional, innovative and certified organic wines.
Years ahead of the curve, the winery implemented a comprehensive Environmental Management Plan in 2000, adopted Stelvin screw caps in 2002, achieved organic certification in 2003, and removed animal protein fining from its winemaking process in 2015. In 2024, Tamburlaine continued its sustainability journey by introducing a 100 percent recycled and recyclable PET wine bottle. The entire Tamburlaine family – from viticulture, winemaking to the cellar door – embraces this forward-thinking approach.
Visitors can enjoy guided wine tastings, complete with optional cheese pairings at the Hunter Valley vineyard or the Millthorpe Cellar Door in Orange. Beyond wine, Tamburlaine also produces its own gin and vodka for those looking to explore further.
In 2024, the winery celebrated an impressive 142 medals and seven trophies, with the Reserve Range alone winning sixty-seven accolades, including the prestigious Governor’s Trophy for Best Wine in New South Wales – awarded to its Reserve Syrah, the first wine from Orange and the first organic wine to win this honour. Wine lovers can also join the free Organic Rewards program for discounts, free shipping and other exclusive member perks.
