PETERSONS WINES

PETERSONS WINES

Pioneered in 1971 by Colin Peterson and his parents, Ian and Shirley, Petersons Wines has become a cornerstone of the Hunter Valley wine industry. The estate was founded on humble beginnings – an old dairy farm in Mount View and the family, full of hope, planting ten acres of semillon grapes.

From there, Petersons Wines has grown into one of Australia’s most respected and reputable family-owned wineries. The first vintage, in 1981, sparked the start of a steadfast tradition of crafting premium, award winning wines and a legacy that is as robust as the wines are delicious.

Petersons Wines is renowned for producing elegant white varietals such as chardonnay, semillon and verdelho, alongside bold reds like the iconic Back Block Shiraz. With twelve hectares currently under vine at Mount View, the wines reflect the best of terroir, complexity and craftsmanship, shaped by decades of expertise, meticulous vineyard practices and an unwavering commitment to quality.

The esteemed winery presents two picturesque cellar doors in the Hunter Valley region. The original at Mount View – home to Petersons Family Wines for more than forty-five years – boasts sweeping views of Mount Sugarloaf and the Watagan Mountains. The second, on Broke Road in Pokolbin, provides guests with a welcoming and immersive tasting experience. Both locations are dog-friendly, and the Broke Road cellar door is home to a charming, cosy dairy cottage for two, perfect for a wine country getaway.

Petersons Wines offers exclusive wine club memberships, with curated packs delivered three times a year, including options like the Big Red Club, Mixed Club and Chardonnay Club. Each bottle is more than just wine – it’s a chance to become part of the Petersons family story. With a focus on heritage, a commitment to quality and a love for hospitality, Petersons Wines remains a must-visit destination in the Hunter Valley region.
