FLYFAIRE

FLYFAIRE

Situated in the cool climate region of Upper Murray within the pristine Woomargama National Park, Flyfaire is a vineyard renowned for its high-quality, distinctive wines and commitment to sustainability. Practicing low-chemical, low-carbon viticulture, Flyfaire offers visitors an inspiring and environmentally conscious wine experience.

The property’s roots trace back to 1861 when it was used as a sheep grazing property. The current owners, Les Hanel and Julianne Cox planted the first grape vines in 1993, which are still going strong today. In 2013, the pair opened a welcoming cellar door and café, inviting wine lovers and locals alike to savour the estate’s offerings. With six hectares under vine and a friendly vineyard dog named Milo to greet guests upon arrival, the experience is as warm as it is memorable.

Specialising in riesling, chardonnay, merlot and carmenere, Flyfaire produces wines that are both timeless and unique. A visit to this remarkable estate promises not just a taste, but a true connection to place, passion and heritage. A visit to the restaurant will excite the taste buds with wood fired slow cooked cuisine in winter or leisurely lunches on the sun-drenched deck in summer.

With breathtaking views of the Great Diving Range, Flyfaire is a boutique vineyard dedicated to low-acreage, high-quality winemaking. Planted at 650 metres above sea level on granite-rich soil, the vineyard thrives in Tumbarumba’s cool climate, producing wines that showcase true varietal character and regional expression.

Flyfaire’s commitment to excellence is reflected in its accolades, including awards from the New South Wales Small Winemakers Show, Australia Small Winemakers, the Canberra International Riesling Challenge, and the prestigious 2022 Elite Status for its 2004 riesling. Flyfaire was also the winner of the 2015 Inland Tourism Award in the category of Tourism Wineries, Distilleries and Breweries, a testament to the exceptional experience it offers.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty of nearby Woomargama National Park, with access to the Hume and Hovell Walking Track, scenic lookouts, and peaceful campsites. Flyfaire also offers a unique wine flour product and four bookable experiences – the Discover Experience, The “Marc of Flyfaire” Experience, Linger Experience, and Picnic Box Experience. Each visit offers a memorable connection to nature, history, and the art of sustainable winemaking.
