De Bortoli Wines
De Bortoli Wines
Located in the Riverina region of New South Wales, the De Bortoli Wines’ Bilbul estate is known for producing a diverse selection of wines, offering styles ranging from premium to approachable. Processing more than forty million litres of wine annually, the estate cultivates approximately 350 hectares of vineyards with more than twenty grape varieties under vine – including shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay and semillon. These diverse plantings form the foundation of a broad and dynamic wine portfolio, supporting all wine types – from everyday drinking varieties to award-winning releases.
From elegant sparking wines to premium red and white varietals, such as the renowned DeBortoli Deen Durif, the estate is home to a selection of highly awarded wines. A key winner is the Noble One Botrytis Semillon. This flagship wine is a botrytis-affected semillon, celebrated for its rich, honeyed sweetness and complexity. Noble One has garnered more than 200 trophies and 550 gold medals, making it one of Australia’s most iconic sweet white wines. The De Bortoli name is also known for its sustainability, with all its estates being awarded an official certification from Sustainable Winegrowing Australia.
De Bortoli Wines was founded in 1928 by Vittorio and Giuseppina De Bortoli, who emigrated from Northern Italy to Australia. They initially purchased a small farm in the Riverina region of New South Wales, where they began their winemaking journey. Their son, Deen De Bortoli, played a pivotal role in expanding the business and succeeded by embracing new technology without ever sacrificing quality or value. Today, the company remains family-owned and is managed by the third generation, including Deen’s children Darren, Leanne, Kevin, and Victor.
De Bortoli Wines’ Bilbul Estate is a welcoming destination for wine lovers, homing the iconic Noble One Botrytis Semillon. The estate reflects a rich Italian heritage and a deep commitment to quality winemaking. Visitors can enjoy beautifully landscaped gardens and a serene setting for tastings. A highlight is Emeri’s Garden, a fourteen-acre masterpiece created over a decade by matriarch Emeri De Bortoli. This enchanting garden features native plants, dry stone walls, meandering paths, and a billabong, blending horticultural beauty with wine culture. De Bortoli Wines is a memorable destination for nature lovers, wine enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a peaceful escape in the heart of the Riverina.
