Heslop Wines was awarded Cellar Door the Year two years in a row at the Mudgee Wine Show – an accomplishment that the team at Heslop Wines is deeply touched by, as the award is voted on by customers. Heslop Wines was taken by surprise when it first won the award, because its tasting room is currently run out of the owners’ family home while they build a new strawbale cellar door. As a small producer, the winery’s focus has always been on making quality wines that people enjoy drinking. It’s about creating something meaningful and bringing the customer along on the journey, and building a cellar door using sustainable materials is part of that dream.

People genuinely love hearing the stories behind each wine in the setting of the winery’s 1910 cottage, which has plenty of charm and homely vibes. It also allows the team to guide its customers through the wines and explain some of the more experimental styles. Visitors get to learn about the wine from the winemakers themselves, something you don’t find everywhere.
