LERIDA ESTATE
LERIDA ESTATE
Wrapped in the cool climate of the Canberra District, Lerida Estate specialises in elegant northern European-style varieties perfectly suited to its terroir. Pinot noir, chardonnay and riesling thrive in the cool conditions, alongside an exceptional wintry shiraz
renowned for its pepper and spice complexity. With eight hectares under vine, the winery produces around twenty-five exquisite wines each year across three tiers: the Estate Range, Cullerin Series and Single Vineyard Series.
Originally established by Anne Caine and Jim Lumbers, the vineyard and winery opened its stunning cellar door in 2005. In 2017, Michael and Tracey McRoberts took the reins, continuing its legacy with a fresh vision. Their approach perfectly blends meticulous winemaking with a commitment to hospitality, landscape and culture. The result is wines that have earned critical acclaim, particularly the shiraz, which has won ‘Best Red Wine in NSW’ three times in six years. In 2023, its first riesling from young vines swept top honours at the Canberra & Region Wine Show.
The winery is a breathtaking destination. Designed by acclaimed architect Glenn Murcutt, the cellar door building is a striking embodiment of Australian architecture. Perched on the Cullerin Range overlooking the scenic expanse of Lake George, it truly is the ideal environment to delight in the taste of the estate. Visitors can dine in a beautifully repurposed barrel room featuring artworks from local galleries or relax by the signature fireplace with panoramic views. Outside, a lush pétanque court invites guests to enjoy a casual game while sipping wine and soaking up the sun-drenched vineyards.
In addition to wine, the estate produces a range of gourmet goods, including homemade pickles, smoked olives, and shiraz jelly – available to taste and buy. With regular cellar door specials, a convenient online store, guided tastings and an active, premier wine club, this winery offers something for every wine lover – whether you’re a local connoisseur or a traveller seeking a taste worth the journey.
