Glandore Wines

Located in the Hunter Valley, Glandore’s winery and cellar door sit below the Broken Back ranges, treating guests to beautiful sunsets over the vines and mountain range views. The expansive verandas allow for relaxed and informal tasting experiences, giving you the time and space to absorb the full flavours of each wine.

Glandore’s classically trained winemakers use minimal intervention techniques, allowing unique seasonal flavours to shine through in every wine. Their passion for perfecting every glass they pour starts in the vineyard and influences every aspect from growth, harvesting, ferment and presentation of the final drop. Many of Glandore’s wines are made from its own vineyards, providing the ability to shape growing conditions and have finer control over the end result. Some of the extra special wines are sourced from single parcels of the vineyard’s fruit, harvesting only exceptional grapes. In cases like the Chloë Blanc De Blancs, every bunch of grapes is hand-picked and sent straight to the press to ensure minimal skin contact, preserving the elegant flavours which provide structure to this delectable sparkling.

In addition to the varieties grown onsite in the Pokolbin vineyard, Glandore is also restoring a heritage vineyard ‘Maluna’ back to its former glory, producing some of the best shiraz in the Hunter Valley. The team’s passion for European style wines means that you’ll find an extensive repertoire of lovingly handcrafted wines, some rare to find in Australia, along with some contemporary favourites. From young, crisp, refreshing varieties like fiano and semillon, and lively red blends, through to elegant shiraz set for cellaring, Glandore Wines has the perfect drop to bring people together and celebrate the good times.

The Members’ Lounge with floor to ceiling views to the mountains is always ready to welcome Cellarhand members with only the best. Cellarhands don’t just get savings on wine, they enjoy opportunities to be a part of the winemaking process and celebrations, including the annual ‘Picking Day’ and ‘Burning of the Barrel’ events, along with invites to seasonal wine matched dinners, winery tours and curated tastings of special museum wines that you won’t get at the cellar door. Every year, Cellarhands have the chance to help make wine from the winery’s best fruit parcels, which then becomes the exclusive and small batch ‘Cellarhands’ range.

Tasting Notes

White Vines
⇐ 2024 White Vines

Delicate aromatics of rose petal and boiled confectionary float above the delicious fruit characters of kiwi and rockmelon. The palate is creamy, round with a soft, juicy mouthful. Being sugar dry, fruit sweetness is predominating, while Turkish Delight and soft mint leaf flavours add pleasing highlights. This wine pairs well with a cauliflower, pomegranate and pistachio salad.

2022 Semillon
⇐ 2022 Cellarhands Semillon

Showing almost no colour, this wine has abundant aromas of lemon pith, fresh cut orange and delicate wet grass. The firm acidity on the palate provides a generous length and tight
finish, while exhibiting a chalky, textural structure to the wine. Drinking vibrant and fresh while young but will reward with long-term cellaring of fifteen to twenty years. A perfect match for sushi.

2023 White Label
⇐ 2023 White Label Tempranillo

Delicious aromas of dark red plums, milk chocolate and cinnamon toast leap out of the glass, the result of bottling after only seven months in old French barrels, retaining the purity of the primary fruit. The medium-bodied palate is generous with crunchy acidity leading through to a fine coasting of mouth-filling tannins

Hamish Shiraz
⇐ 2019 Hamish Shiraz

Slowly starting to reveal its aged characters, this wine still holds its youthful vibrancy and complexity with causal aplomb. The colour remains bright, with deep hues of purple while the nose showcases blackcurrants, graphite, sweet licorice, dark chocolate and a touch of brambly pine. The palate presents dark fruits at the forefront, supported by a rich mid-palate of ripe berries and a backbone of lively tannins.
