The Little Wine Company

The Little Wine Company

The Little Wine Company is nestled in the beautiful Broke Fordwich region of the Hunter Valley, where husband and wife winemakers Ian and Suzanne Little have created a brand that reflects their character and authenticity – because, as we all know, a little wine is good.

Ian and Suzanne came from diverse winemaking backgrounds before they joined forces to establish The Little Wine Company in 2000. Over the last twenty-five years they have built a reputation as pioneers in emerging, alternative varieties such as albarino, pecorino, vermentino, barbera, sangiovese and tempranillo.

Each year, the winery focuses on a small handful of varieties, allowing it to take a hands-on approach to every stage of the winemaking process. This dedication ensures that each variety receives extra care, attention and love, resulting in wines that are rich in character and quality. The winery’s smaller-scale production sets it apart, as every bottle is a true reflection of its passion and expertise. At the Little Wine Company, every sip tells a story of craftsmanship and devotion.

Ian & Suzanne opened their new cellar door in 2024, dedicated to showcasing their own wines in their hometown of Broke. The cellar door is a serene retreat where visitors can relax, unwind, and savour their wines in a tranquil setting.

Offering exceptional wines and a breathtaking location The Little Wine Company is a truly unique destination. As a family-operated business, guests are welcomed with warmth and treated like family, creating an intimate and memorable experience.

Committed to sustainability, The Little Wine Company is a certified member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, aligning with the national program for grape growers and winemakers dedicated to environmentally responsible practices. Albarino
⇐ The Little Wine Company Albarino

This Albarino thrives in the Hunter Valley, particularly in the Broke Fordwich sub region, where it develops its signature crisp acidity and vibrant minerality – perfect for food pairing. Crafted without oak influence, the palate bursts with zesty lime, subtle spice and a hint of salinity, leading to a refreshing, mouthwatering finish.

Pecorino
⇐ The Little Wine Company Pecorino

As pioneers of alternative varieties, Ian & Suzanne produced one of the first Pecorino wines in Australia. With a lower demand for water, it is a more sustainable option than many other white varieties. A crisp, vibrant palate, with delicate notes of pear and red apple with a refreshing, lively finish.

Sangiovese
⇐ The Little Wine Company Sangiovese

As one of the world’s oldest grape varieties, this sangiovese strikes a perfect balance between intense flavour and an inviting, lighter structure. Bursting with sweet cherry notes and rich, smoky chocolate undertones, this wine is a beautifully approachable expression of the varietal – smooth, flavourful and ready to enjoy.

Barbera
⇐ The Little Wine Company Barbera

Barbera thrives in our warm climate thanks to its rich colour and naturally high acidity. Often hailed as one of the most food-friendly wines in the world, this Barbera delivers vibrant colours of currants and blackberries, complemented by a supple, soft palate and a balanced structure.
