Nestled in the elevated terrain of Mount View, Petersons Wines has been a cornerstone of the Hunter Valley wine scene since 1981. The journey began when Ian and Shirley Peterson, and their son Colin, transformed part of their old dairy farm into a flourishing vineyard, planting ten acres of semillon grapes.
As the vineyard grew, so did the Petersons’ ambition. Among the many parcels of land, the “Back Block” quickly stood out. With its unique east-facing aspect and rich red volcanic soils, it became the foundation for what is now Petersons’ flagship wine: the Back Block Shiraz. Crafted only in exceptional vintages, this shiraz is a tribute to the vineyard’s distinctive terroir.
The Back Block Shiraz is more than a wine – it’s a reflection of the family’s dedication to quality and their deep connection to the land. Every bottle tells a story of tradition, craftsmanship, and the unique character of Mount View.
