791 Estate
Boasting picturesque views of the vines and the stunning rolling hills of the Mudgee region, 791 Estate is a small-batch vineyard known for its delectable, handcrafted wines. The beautiful views encompass the property, offering the perfect location for a relaxing day – enjoy a tasting in the newly renovated cellar door, or have a glass or two under the shady trees outside.
The property was bought in 2018 by a family who intended to use it as their new home and had no interest in ever making wine. Now affectionately known as ‘Fiona the Owner’ and ‘Brendan the Grape Grower’, the pair did not anticipate what lay ahead of them. Brendan had planned to rip out the vines and grow leucin, but a friend informed him what he had regarding grapes. Brendan and Fiona seized the opportunity presented to them and so began the journey of 791 Estate. Brendan regenerated the sixteen-acres of vines, winning himself the Viticulturalist of the Year award in 2022. And then came the fun part – wine making.
791 Estate specialises in red and white wines but has also branched out into making a NV muscat Liqueur. Fiona and Brendan took a different approach to make wine, using a feminine hand to create beautiful, boutique handcrafted wines. The estate’s wines have been widely recognised for their excellence, with the 2018 Chardonnay winning a bronze medal, and the NV Muscat Liqueur winning a gold medal and trophy.
The cellar door opened in November 2019, with recent renovations transforming the space into a serene escape. The magnificent views can be enjoyed both inside and outside, making the estate a suitable retreat year-round. Visitors to 791 Estate are greeted as if they are part of the family. Fiona brings her passion for great wine and exceptional customer service to the cellar door, welcoming visitors to sample some of the specialty wines from the estate’s fabulous fruits. Guests have the opportunity to ask the friendly family any questions about the wine and region, allowing them to understand the personalities and the terroir behind the wines they are tasting.
Tasting Notes

⇐ 2024 Semillon-Sauvignon Blanc
This wine has aromas of lemon and lime backed with vibrant passionfruit, giving a lifted tropical complexity. Light yellow in colour, it is refreshing, crisp and well balanced. Enjoy with fresh oysters or creamy goat’s cheese.

⇐ 2021 Cuveé
This sparkling chardonnay has apple blossom, white nectarine and a hint of baked/yeasty aromas. Crisp green apple, creamy texture and chalky acidity on the palate. Bubbly just like ‘Fiona the Owner’.

⇐ Pinot Noir
Premium fruit selected from the central ranges, adding to the 791 Estate range of boutique quality wines. This is a very aromatic pinot noir with wild plum, vanilla oak and a lovely fruit to acidity balance.

⇐ NV Muscat Liqueur
This is like Christmas cake in a glass. With specially selected fruit, this old favourite can be enjoyed three ways.
